ExtractApollodorus (4), of Alexandria (1), physician and zoologist of the beginning of the 3rd cent. bce. His major work, On Poisonous Animals, was a source for pharmacologists and toxicologists in later antiquity (e.g. *Numenius, *Heraclides (4) of Tarentum, *Nicander, *Sostratus, Sextius Niger, *Pliny (1), *Dioscorides (2), *Archigenes, *Aemilius Macer, and probably *Philumenus; see pharmacology).
