Extract

The author of more than twenty-five books, Erica Jong will certainly be remembered as one of the writers at the barricades of the sexual revolution of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Her 1973 novel Fear of Flying, one of the top ten bestselling books of that decade, has drawn both cheers and censure for its uninhibited representation of the sexual, intellectual, and emotional dreams and desires of its protagonist, Isadora Wing.
