Summary

Mary Coleen Shannon (1940–2001) was a pioneer in biofeedback and autogenic training and in advocating for gender equity among faculty and practitioners. She was instrumental in integrating biofeedback into social work practice and made further contributions to social work, particularly in the area of gender equity. Her influence was felt during her years as an associate professor of social work at the University of Texas at Arlington from 1970 until her death in 2001 and posthumous professor emerita recognition.
