Posidonius (Ποσειδώνιος) (1) of Olbiopolis, sophist and historian, author of works on the Dniester region, *Attica and *Libya, has been identified, though this is very uncertain, with the Posidonius (FGrH 169) who, according to *Plutarch (Aem. 19), was contemporary with *Perseus (2) of Macedon (179–168 bce) and described his reign, including the battle of *Pydna.Subjects
